FFAJ-logoThe Financial Futures Association of Japan (FFAJ) published the monthly retail OTC binary options report for May, 2016.

The total volume of OTC binary option trading in May was 30.40 billion JPY, declined by 16.6% from the previous month and significantly dropped by 27.6% from the same month last year. The May figure is the lowest trading volume in 12 months as you can see the following graph.

The number of existing accounts at the end of the month was 344,396, of which 11,880 were active accounts.

All major currency pairs except GBP/USD experienced decrese of their trading volume. Trading volume of the most popular pair, USD/JPY, declined by 15.34% to 15 billion JPY. The second most traded currency pair, GBP/JPY, also decreased by 13.4% from April.The biggest drop was seen at EUR/JPY with -26.7%. Only GBP/USD grew its trading volume, with +6.9% MoM.
