During October, 2016, OTC Commodity CFD trading volume in Japan was decreased by 7.31% from the previous month according to monthly report published by the Commodity Futures Association of Japan ( CFAJ ). The data is based on reports from member companies of the association.
The total number of contract was 10,923,349 which consisted of 6,339,917 of energy, 3,713,694 of Precious metals and 869,738 of Agricultural products. The total trading value was 411,710 million JPY, declined by 7.31% from the previous month, and further decreased by 27.7% year-over-year.
The biggest MoM growth was seen at the agricultural products with 67.8% while the product was the least traded one. The precious metal also increased its trading value by 12.59%. The most traded product, energy only showed the decrease (-16.15%) of its trading value.
The total number of funded accounts was 5,667, slightly decreased by 0.68% from the previous month. The total customer margin balance at the end of the month was down to 4,851 million JPY by 2.07% month-over-month. The total open interests of both sell and buy at the end of the month was 18,224 million JPY, declined by 4.8% from the previous month. Regarding each product, the open interest value was 8,081 million JPY for Energy, 8,569 million JPY for Precious metal, and 1,573 million JPY for Agricultural product.
