Mizuho Bank invested into a fund “500 Startups JP,L.P.” set up by Silicon Valley-based 500 Startups, Silicon Valley-based accelerator and seed venture capital.
500 Startups was established in 2010 with an aim of investing into seed ventures and supporting their growth. As the largest level of accelerator and seed venture capital, the company has invested into more than 1,500 companies in 50 countries through its various acceleration programs such as mentoring and education programs by entrepreneurs and investors.
The fund supplies capital to Japanese promising seed ventures and provide the latest knowledge and information in Silicon Valley taking advantages of 500 Startups’ know-how and experiences for their growth. Mizuho Bank is early to spot 500 Startups’ entering into Japan and has strengthened relationship with the company. The bank is the only Japanese mega bank to invest into the fund.
The bank plans to hold business matching events, conduct equity investment by the group’s venture capital, support IPO, etc.
