A Tokyo-based FinTech firm, Finatext won a FinTech pitch contest “#Maybankfintech”. The competition was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 16, 2015, and was organized by Maybank, the largest Malaysian bank. More than 200 FinTech firms from all over Asia applied and submitted their ideas to the competition.

Finatext is famous for its smartphone app named “Asukabu”. This app targets stock traders and has a unique function to collect users’ prediction of tomorrow’s stock price movement, rise or fall. The app was jointly developed with Rakuten Securities and launched on November 2014. Asukabu is Japanese No.1 app in terms of the number of predictions of stock price per day.

According to Asukabu website, its English version will be available in this summer.

Finatext was shortlisted for the final pitch which only 20 out of over 200 firms submitted their ideas were entitled to go. Among the 20 finalists, Finatex is the only Japanese firm. After battling at 3 minutes pitch, Funatext won the prestigious award. The top idea will be given the chance to pilot their ideas within Maybank.

In the company’s press release, the company has been preparing for entering Asian markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. It believes this award will open up its further global expansion.
