A leading global payment service provider, Western Union Company announced its Japanese arm took over the business of Western Union UK’s branch which was established in 2011, and the Western Union Japan started its operation from the end of last year.
Western Union provides consumers and businesses with fast, reliable and convenient ways to send and receive money around the world, to send payments and to purchase money orders. As of September 30, 2015, the Western Union, Vigo and Orlandi Valuta branded services were offered through a combined network of over 500,000 agent locations in 200 countries and territories and over 100,000 ATMs and kiosks, and included the capability to send money to hundreds of millions of accounts.
In Japan, the company’s service is available at over 220 stores, 21,500 ATMs and 11,400 convenience stores and the numbers have been growing.
The launch of Western Union Japan with a long-term commitment for Japanese market aims to gain opportunities for further business development in Japan. Western Union finds huge potential of the futures of an international payment business because of increasing foreign workers in Japan, visitors to Japan, and Japanese consumer demand.
